UPDATE: Tenants told to vacate apartment building in Lucknow for investigation

Residents of a two-storey apartment building in Lucknow were displaced while investigators responded to an altercation Sunday afternoon.

At around 12:15 p.m., officers of the South Bruce and Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachments were called to the property on Walter Street for a barricaded person incident.

According to investigators, police arrived and were able to contain the subject's residence. At around 5:35 p.m., police, with assistance from members of specialized units, including the OPP Emergency Response Team, arrested a man without incident.

During the situation, tenants were asked to evacuate the dwelling, and Walter Street at Campbell Street (Bruce County Road 86) was closed to the public. The area has since reopened.

The accused, whose identity has not been released, remains in police custody. Police say he faces a criminal charge.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
