UPDATE: Reported gunfire led to investigation on Saugeen First Nation

Provincial police closed part of Denny's Dam Road at Highway 21 on Saugeen First Nation for most of Thursday due to a report of possible gunfire.

According to Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area at around 7 a.m.

Members of OPP West Region Provincial Liason Team, Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, along with the Saugeen Shores Police Department assisted with the investigation which led to the area being closed for over eight hours, while police secured the scene.

Investigators have since determined that there is no longer a threat to public safety and the roads have been reopened.

No injuries have been reported.

Members of the Grey Bruce Crime Unit continue to investigate.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
