Study will check out grocery store competition in Canada

Canada’s Competition Bureau will study grocery store competition across the country.

The study comes as rising inflation continues to affect the purchasing power of consumers, especially for groceries.

The goal of the study is to look at ideas to make it easier for new businesses to compete and innovate.

The study will answer three questions. First, it will try to find out how changing competitive dynamics impact prices. Second, they will look at what other countries have done to increase competition in the sector. And finally, the study is expected to offer suggestions on how governments can lower barriers to entry and expansion to stimulate competition for consumers.

People can submit their views on the matter by December 16, 2022.
