OPP investigating crash involving cyclist and transport truck near Hensall

Provincial police in Huron County are hoping to speak with anyone who may have witnessed a crash involving a transport truck and a cyclist Friday morning.

At around 11:17 a.m. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the scene of a crash that happened on London Road just north of Hensall.

According to police, paramedics arrived and found an injured person who had been riding a bicycle when they collided with the commercial vehicle. The cyclist, identified only as a 61-year-old, was taken to nearby hospital and later airlifted to hospital in London where their injuries were determined to be non-life threatening.

The truck driver was not injured.

Officers closed a stretch of London Road for some time while they investigated the scene. Police are now looking to speak with possible witnesses.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
