Home sales in Grey Bruce down sharply over last year

The Realtors Association of Grey Bruce Owen Sound saw home sales plummet by 44 per cent in October, compared to the same month last year.

However, prices are down just slightly, while supply is up.

The MLS Home Price Index composite benchmark price edged up 4 per cent over last year to $569,100 in October 2022.

"The benchmark price for single-family homes was $573,000, a small gain of 3.5 per cent on a year-over-year basis in October. By comparison, the benchmark price for townhouse/row units was $570,400, increasing by 16.1 per cent compared to a year earlier, while the benchmark apartment price was $361,700, a gain of 12 per cent from year-ago levels," the October report said.

The 375 new listings represent the largest number of properties going up for sale in the month of October in a decade. New listings increased by 28.9 per cent from October 2021.
