Grey Bruce Poverty Task Force calls for action at COP27

The Bruce Grey Poverty Task Force is pleased with the strong language being used at the ongoing international climate conference.

Coordinator Jill Umbach said climate change must be addressed because there is a well established link between climate, poverty, and equity.

The task force is calling on participants to make progress at the ongoing COP27 Conference in Egypt.

Umbach said it is time for all levels of government to enact transformative policies that address the root causes of climate change and income insecurity.

She said recently the North Bruce Peninsula Climate Action Plan team evaluated the potential equity impacts of their Climate Action Plan in North Bruce Peninsula.

She added some of the solutions include a basic income.
