Former Bluewater Mayor Bill Dowson passes away

Former Bluewater Mayor Bill Dowson has passed away.

Dowson died last week in his 85th year.

He was the first Mayor in the amalgamated municipality of Bluewater in 2001. He served the communities of Bluewater and, before that, Stanley Township for more than 30 years.

“He was really a person who lived and breathed Stanley Township, Hay Township, Bayfield, Varna, Huron County. He always put his best foot forward for our community and we are going to miss him,” said current Bluewater Mayor Paul Klopp.

Funeral services for Dowson were held at the Stanley Township Complex in Varna on Tuesday.
