Vanastra stand-off ends with one person in custody

A stand-off in Vanastra is over but police are still on scene.

In a statement, Huron OPP said they were called to check on the wellbeing of a person at a townhouse on St. Charles Place around 7 p.m. Thursday.

Police said the suspect initially refused to leave the residence and was eventually apprehended by police.

Members of the OPP's West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit, West Region Emergency Response Team, K-9, and West Region Mobile Support Unit responded to the scene.

Police said officers are still investigating and are asking people to continue to avoid the area.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
