Huron County seeking public input on 2023 budget

Huron County is inviting residents to complete a five-question survey for the county's 2023 budget.

Warden Glen McNeil says the county has done this for the last couple of years because it wants to get residents involved in the budget process and give them a chance to state their priorities.

“This five-question survey is open to all residents of Huron County to respond until the 14th of December. At that time, there will be a report coming back of the results that will be shared with Huron County council,” said McNeil.

As part of the annual budgeting process, all County departments draft and review their annual budget estimates while considering the strategic priorities set by County Council. When Council reviews the initial draft budget, it will also be made available to members of the community, who are encouraged to review and stay informed.

After multiple reviews of the draft budget, Council will consider and debate before final approval of the budget is given in early 2023.

“We want to assure all residents that Huron County is committed to providing fiscally-responsible, quality services to our residents,” added McNeil.

The survey can be found online
