Two Midwestern Ontario Schools in Girl's "A" Basketball Championship tournament in Walkerton and Kincardine

The OFSAA Girls "A" Basketball Tournament is coming to Bruce County.

The provincial championship will be co-hosted by Walkerton District Community School and Kincardine District Senior School Thursday through Saturday.

"Our community is really excited" says Vince Yenssen, coach of W.D.C.S. "We're going to probably see around 300 people coming from outside the area to Walkerton and Kincardine for the event, plus it gets livestreamed across the entire province."

Walkerton District earned entry to the tournament as the host team, while Wingham's F.E. Madill Secondary School also qualified by winning the Western Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association Final. Walkerton District is the 10 seed and will take on St. Mary's on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in Walkerton, while F.E. Madill is the 8 seed and will meet U.T.S. out of Toronto on Thursday at 1:00 p.m.

Games will get underway on Thursday, November 24 at 9:00 a.m. in both Walkerton and Kincardine.

The Gold Medal Game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at W.D.C.S. on Saturday.

General admission tickets are still available, including $20 passes for the entire tournament.

OFSAA Girls "A" Tournament Schedule

Walkerton District Community School: 1st game is Thursday, November 24 at 11:00 a.m. at W.D.C.S. against St. Mary's. If W.D.C.S. wins, they will play at 12:00 p.m. on Friday at Kincardine District Senior School. If W.D.C.S. loses, they will play at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at K.D.S.S.

F.E. Madill Secondary School: 1st game is Thursday, November 24 at 1:00 p.m. at W.D.C.S. against U.T.S. If F.E. Madill wins, they will play at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at K.D.S.S. If F.E. Madill loses, they will play at 9:00 a.m. on Friday at K.D.S.S.
