No injuries following apartment fire

A fire at an apartment building in Walkerton luckily didn't result in any injuries.

The fire broke out at a residential apartment building at 308 John Street in Walkerton on December 1. The building is operated by Bruce County Housing Corporation. The Brockton Fire Department responded to the blaze and extinguished the fire with no injuries reported. All twenty residents made it out safely. The building remains under supervision of emergency officials, and Bruce County has supported tenants at the local community centre and is working with partner organizations on sheltering tenants and other immediate needs.

Tenants or family members can contact 1-800-265-3022 to get further information. Residents are asked to avoid the building for now as crews assess damage and try to determine a cause.
