Grey County Council acclaims 2023 Warden

Southgate Mayor Brian Milne will serve as Warden of Grey County in 2023.

He was acclaimed during Tuesday's inaugural Council meeting.

Milne is looking forward to seeing new people, new ideas, and new investment. He says pairing that with people who have lived here for generations is a winning combination.

Milne was first elected to Southgate Council in 2003, and this is his second term as mayor.

It's also his fourth term on Grey County Council.

Milne's family has farmed in Grey County for four generations. He's a member of the Egremont Optimists and the North Wellington Health Care Alliance Board.

Milne believes Council must be ensure tax dollars are wisely spent.

“We must determine priorities. We can't be everything to everyone and so we must work very hard to do the right things, the best things, to be just and to be fair,” he said.

The election of the Warden is held annually in December at the inaugural session. Councillor Paul McQueen declined to enter the race after he was nominated.
