Significant barn fire results in major losses

A very significant and destructive barn fire has caused high losses in Central Huron.

At 1:00 a.m. on December 7, Huron County OPP responded alongside firefighters from Goderich, Clinton, Brucefield, Bayfield and Blyth Fire Departments to a barn fire on Cut Line in Central Huron. The blaze was very significant, and three barns were destroyed along with the loss of fourteen cattle and nine chickens, as well as quantities of straw, feed and equipment.

Early estimates have the damage anywhere from $1 million to $3 million. Cut Line was closed for a lengthy period as crews knocked down the blaze, but has since re-opened. The cause of the fire is not deemed suspicious.
