Charges laid following lengthy internal theft investigation

The Hanover Police Service has arrested and charged an Owen Sound native following a lengthy internal theft investigation at a local business.

Police began receiving theft complaints in April 2022 from the business, and following an investigation, police discovered that a former employee of the business was taking money from the business, where he worked for years, to the tune of over $175,000. A 55-year-old man from Owen Sound is now facing a total of 65 charges, including 47 counts of theft under $5,000, as well as fraud and forgery charges.

The accused was released from custody following his arrest and is scheduled to appear in court in Walkerton on December 14 to answer to the charges.
