HPPH confirms death due to flu

Huron Perth Public Health urges residents to keep protecting themselves from respiratory illness this holiday season following the recent death of a community member. 

HPPH has received confirmation of a death in Huron-Perth related to influenza. The individual was an adult living in the community.

“We send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of this individual,” says Dr. Miriam Klassen, Huron Perth Medical Officer of Health.

A media release from HPPH states that influenza continues to circulate in Huron Perth and has been causing severe illness in children and youth this year.

Influenza vaccines continue to be available at pharmacies and at primary care providers. 

According to HPPH, you can protect yourself and your loved ones by staying home if you are sick, wearing masks in indoor public settings, and practicing good hand hygiene.
