High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

The Port Elgin Rotary Club is holding their first annual Car Raffle.
President and CEO of Bruce Power Mike Rencheck has donated his dream sports car, a Chevrolet Corvette, to be raffled off. Proceeds will be going towards several local charities.
These organizations include; Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, Huron Shores Hospice, Wes for Youth, Salvation Army Family Services &amp; Food Bank, Women’s Housing Serving Bruce and Grey, Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Rotary Foundation (Canada).
The sale launched in December, and will be open until September 30, 2023. The winner will be announced at the Port Elgin Pumpkinfest.
