Significant drug bust in Wingham

The Huron County OPP have released details stemming from a recent drug bust in Wingham.

On February 9, OPP officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Centre Street in Wingham. During the investigation, police recovered an imitation BB-gun, a "flick-knife", ammunition, and stolen garden power tools. Police also seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, psilocybin, and oxycodone. A quantity of Canadian currency was also seized. The combined estimated value of the seized drugs is nearly $30,000, while the combined estimated value of the seized property is almost $2,400. The Canadian currency seized amounted to $410.

As a result, a 26-year-old from Wingham and a 31-year-old from Durham were both arrested and charged with numerous drug charges. Both of the accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The bust was conducted with members of the Community Street Crimes Unit, Grey-Bruce CSCU, Huron OPP Major Crime Unit, West Region Tactics and Rescue Units, West Region Emergency Response Team, and Explosives Disposal Unit.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
