Central Huron man charged after vehicle crashes into home

Provincial police in Huron County have charged a man after an incident last month in which a pickup truck crashed into a home in Clinton.

At around 11:25 a.m. on January 22, emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle crash on William Street South in Central Huron. When police arrived, they saw a pickup truck had hit a family home, causing significant damage to both the vehicle and the dwelling.

According to police, the driver was travelling west on Townsend Street when he approached a posted stop sign. The man allegedly failed to stop at the intersection, which is when he crossed over William Street South, jumped a curb and crashed into the front of the home.

No one oin the home was hurt, however the driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

"Police spoke to the driver and determined that they were under the influence of a drug(s) while driving," a media release from Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) read. "The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and taken into custody."

A 29-year-old from Central Huron is charged of impaired operation, and careless driving. He is scheduled to appear in a Goderich courtroom on March 27.
