OHL game to support local hospice

People can help support the Grey Bruce Hospice at a fundraising hockey game in Owen Sound this Saturday, February 18, 2023.

The Owen Sound Attack and the Saginaw Spirit will face off in the "Hockey for Hospice" game at the Harry Lumney Bayshore Community Centre.

The game gets underway at 7:30 with 100 per cent of the proceeds going to support Grey and Bruce residents needing end-of-life care at Chapman House.

The Hospice needs to raise 50 per cent of its operation expenses every year.

“We are very grateful to our Title Sponsor Gay Lea Foods, Hockey for Hospice Jersey Sponsors the Grey-Bruce Dairy Producers, Media Sponsor Bayshore Broadcasting and the whole Owen Sound Attack organization for this opportunity," said Amy McConachie, Donor Relations Coordinator at Grey Bruce Hospice. "We have had many generous individuals and businesses from our community donate amazing items for our Silent Auction and other fundraising activities at the game."

According to McConachie, the auction will also include a package that includes four tickets to the Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Detroit Red Wings on Sunday April 2 in Toronto and a $2,000 Visa gift card to go towards hotel or meal costs. There will also be a Fly Grey Bruce sightseeing 90-minute flight for three passengers from Owen Sound Flight Services. The online auction will be live on Monday, February 13 and run until Sunday, February 19 at 6 p.m.

"Be sure to check out the online Auction and buy your tickets to the Attack game at www.AttackHockey.com,” McConachie said.
