Health officials seeking dog involved in scratching incident

Grey Bruce Public Health officials are asking for help in locating a dog that scratched a pedestrian in Owen Sound.

On February 10 at 2 p.m., a man was scratched by a large dog on the sidewalk on 6th Avenue East, between 16th and 17th Street East. The dog is described as white with short curly hair, and was wearing a green kerchief when the incident occurred. The dog ran up to the man and jumped up on him, causing the scratch. Health officials want to confirm the dog is not potentially infected with rabies.

By confirming the dog involved does not have rabies, the victim in the incident will avoid post-rabies treatments. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to call Grey Bruce Public Health at 519-376-9420 ext. 1355.
