Stratford and Perth foster homes needed for large dogs

The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo Stratford Perth urgently needs at least a dozen foster homes for large dogs in Perth County.

Manager of Volunteers Denise Rowse said people can fill out an application by contacting the humane society.

"We know it's difficult. You open your hearts, you open your homes. You need to get home at a certain time to feed them. It's a lot of love and care but it makes such a big difference for our animals," Rowse said.

She added dogs who are fostered are usually adopted more quickly as they are used to being in a home.

"We supply food, a bed, toys, dishes, leash and a crate, and of course cover all vet costs," she explained.

There is a training course families would need to take before accepting a temporary pet.
