Charges laid after Port Elgin motel restaurant entrance damaged

A 47-year-old woman from Owen Sound has been charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving, and mischief over $5,000 following an incident at a Port Elgin motel on February 20.

According to the Saugeen Shores Police Service, police and paramedics were called to the Sunny Motel on Highway 21 at Concession 6 at 3 p.m. on Family Day to respond to a disturbance call.

Police Facebook photos show significant damage to the front entrance of the motel's restaurant, with splintered wood and smashed glass visible in the images.

After conducting an investigation, police arrested a woman and charged her with impaired driving, dangerous driving, and mischief over $5,000. The woman also faces "other charges," which police did not specify.

The accused is expected to appear in court at a later date.
