Youth charged following online threats

A youth has been charged after allegedly posting threats online.

Grey-Bruce OPP have charged a 14-year-old from Barrie following an investigation into online threats made toward a local youth. Police received a complaint from a concerned parent on February 25 after their child allegedly received a series of threats to cause bodily harm through online messaging. The accused, whose name cannot be released due to their age, has been charged with uttering threats cause death or bodily harm.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound at a later date.

Police are reminding parents to keep track of what your kids are using electronic devices for and to monitor their activity to keep them safe.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
