Owen Sound Police charge impaired driver

A Meaford man is facing charges for impaired driving after allegedly attempting to avoid a R.I.D.E check in Owen Sound this morning.

Police say they were set up in the 1800-block of 16th Street East when the driver of a red Honda Civic attempted to pass the check. Another officer stopped the man and said he displayed signs of impairment.

Once officers obtained a breath sample, they say the man blew double the legal limit.

He was arrested, his vehicle was impounded for seven days and licence suspended for 90.

The suspect will appear in Owen Sound Court this month to answer to the charges.
