Perth County OPP encouraging drivers to Buckle Up

Perth County OPP will be hitting the roads on the long weekend with a goal of educating drivers about seatbelt safety.

Police will be looking for those who are not buckled up or speeding. They will also keep an eye out for distracted driving, impaired driving, and other bad behaviours.

In 2022, OPP laid almost 9,200 seatbelt charges, some of them related to collisions in which people were not buckled up.

"Had every person worn their seatbelt, fewer families would have lost loved ones in these road incidents," Perth OPP said in a statement issued to the media.

The Buckle Up campaign will run until April 10.
