Toronto man charged with trafficking in Saugeen Shores

Saugeen Shores Police Service charged a 23-year-old Toronto man with a variety of offences, including drug trafficking, following a R.I.D.E stop.

On Wednesday night, officers were conducting spot checks in Southampton when they stopped a driver allegedly exhibiting signs of drug impairment.

Police say the man refused to comply with officers demands and at one point, quickly jumped into the back seat of the vehicle in a clear attempt to conceal or discard an item.

He was placed under arrest and transported to the station, where officers say they found cocaine, psilocybin and a large quantity of cash while searching him.

The man faces charges for impaired operation, resisting arrest, and possession for the purpose of trafficking among others.

The suspect was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody.
