Mount Forest woman charged in weekend stabbing

A Mount Forest woman faces several charges stemming from a stabbing at a home in town over the weekend.

At around 11 p.m. last Thursday, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a threats call at a home on Egremont Street. Officers were told that a person was threatened with an edged weapon and the accused took off.

Shortly after midnight on Good Friday, police responded to a call about an injured person at a home on Albert Street. Police say the victim was stabbed and suffered serious, non-life threatening injuries.

OPP officers have since arrested a 31-year-old Mount Forest woman accused of harming the victim. She is charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, two counts of uttering threats of causing death or bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to comply with a release order.

The woman was held in police custody pending a bail hearing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
