Liberal Party leadership candidates coming to Wingham

At least four candidates seeking the leadership of the Ontario Liberal Party are scheduled to appear at the Wingham Golf & Curling Club later this month.

The Huron-Bruce Provincial Riding Association is hosting an event on April 29 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. that will include MP Nathaniel Erskine-Smith, MPP Stephanie Bowman, MPP Adil Shamji and MPP Ted Hsu, four of the many candidates that are seeking to become the full-time replacement of Steven Del Duca, who resigned as leader following the most recent provincial election.

This will be one of the first opportunities to speak to Liberal party brass after it altered the rules of its leadership, including a switch to the "One-Member-One-Vote" system earlier this year, a move that Erskine-Smith says "allows for a more modern and open process."

Del Duca resigned on June 2, 2022 after the Liberal Party won only eight seats and failed to gain official party status.
