Police release results from long weekend traffic initiative

Huron and Perth County OPP have released numbers from their Easter Long Weekend traffic blitz.

Perth County officers laid 102 charges over the three day initiative. Six of the drivers were not wearing seatbelts. There were 76 charges for speeding, one charge for impaired driving, and three charges for stunt driving.

In Huron County, police laid 218 charges. There were three crashes that luckily resulted in no injuries. Thirty seatbelt charges were laid, as well as 105 speeding charges and three stunt/racing charges. Two drivers were charged with impaired driving and 51 other various traffic charges were laid.

Police will continue monitoring local roadways and will be on the lookout for dangerous driving in all forms.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
