New tech in police cruisers leads to stolen vehicle recovery

Wellington County OPP have recovered a stolen vehicle after the new Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system alerted them. ALPR is now in all Wellington police cruisers.

In the early hours on April 15, police initiated a traffic stop. After the driver did not pull over, police popped the tires on the vehicle.

As a result of an ongoing investigation, three people were arrested.

A 45-year old, 42-year old, and a 33-year old, all from Cambridge are facing possession of property obtained by crime over $5000. The 42-year old is also facing a flight from peace officer charge, and the 33-year old is charged with possession of a schedule I substance - methamphetamine.
