Suspect faces charges for damaging Saugeen Shores cruiser last summer

Saugeen Shores Police Service have arrested and charged a man who allegedly damaged a cruiser last summer.

On August 27, 2022, officers stopped a vehicle along Goderich Street.

Officers said the operator got out to speak with officers, but as this was happening, a passenger slid into the driver’s seat of the stopped vehicle and reversed into the parked police cruiser before taking off.

Police didn't pursue the suspect citing public safety.

The man now faces charges for flight from police, as well as two counts of assault with a weapon.

The accused has since been released by the courts with a $250 bail deposit and has been placed on a 10 p.m. curfew. He will appear in court at a future date.
