Big Brothers Big Sisters hosting summer events

Local Big Brothers Big Sisters chapters are hosting a pair of summer fundraising events this year.

Firstly, Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Bruce North Huron is holding its annual Golf Fore Kids' Sake tournament June 2 and 3 at the Ainsdale Golf Course in Kincardine. The men’s tournament runs on Friday and women’s on Saturday. New this year will be the Wingham co-ed tournament on June 16 at Wingham Golf and Curling Club.

Additionally, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grey Bruce is holding a pickleball tournament July 7-9 at the Wiarton Arena in partnership with the Taylored Pickleball Academy. For more information and to register visit: http://www.tayloredpickleballacademy.ca/tournaments

All funds raised will go toward supporting the hundreds of children and youth in the Big Brothers Big Sisters programs.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
