Huron-Kinloss to give weekend bylaw enforcement a go

Huron-Kinloss will have bylaw enforcement available some weekends this summer, on a trial basis.

Council approved a report from staff at this week’s meeting that suggested they pilot a schedule that will allow the town’s lone bylaw officer, or a relief officer, to patrol the lakeshore on weekends.

The schedule will be subject to budget limitations and the town says for maximum effectiveness, the additional dates will not be provided to the public in advance.

A follow-up report on the pilot program will be provided to council in the fall. If they determine that weekend coverage or other by-law services should be included or expanded, the matter could be included in 2024 budget discussions.
