Damage to trees under investigation

Police are investigating after numerous trees were damaged in Mitchell.

Perth County OPP were called on May 15 at 10 a.m. and were told about a mischief incident that occurred on May 12. Investigators say that sometime between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on May 12, three unknown suspects caused damage to two 80-year-old maple trees in the area of Wellington Street, Mitchell by removing the outer bark of the trees. The damage was assessed at approximately $25,000.

An investigation is ongoing, and police are encouraging anyone who may have any information to contact Perth County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
