Emergency response training taking place at Goderich hospital

The Huron County OPP is teaming up with the West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit, West Region Emergency Response Team, and OPP Crisis Negotiators to complete emergency response training.

The OPP will collaborate with staff at the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in Goderich to complete high risk situation training exercises. That includes things like rescuing a hostage and violent people who are armed.

"Emergency preparedness is vital to the hospital and this training will keep all staff competent and trained for any unforseen situations," said Jimmy Trieu, president and CEO of the Huron Health System.

The training is taking place May 23 until 1 p.m. Police are reminding the public not to be concerned if they notice more emergency vehicles and personnel in and around the hospital.
