Seaforth hospital closing ER overnight

The Seaforth Community Hospital is closing its emergency department overnight on Tuesday.

The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) says the closure is due to "unplanned health human resource shortages."

The ER will close at 5 p.m. on May 23 and reopen the following day at 7 a.m. At that point, 24/7 operations will resume.

Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 911. Paramedics will reroute to the nearest available emergency department.

The closest emergency departments are in Goderich, Exeter and Stratford. HPHA recommends calling before attending to ensure they are operating with regular hours.
