UPDATE: Arrest made in homicide investigation, Collingwood

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Wasaga Beach man with second degree murder after a homicide in Collingwood.

Members of the Collingwood and Blue Mountains OPP responded to an incident on Matthew Way around 10:45 p.m. on Friday.

Initially, police were tight-lipped about the events leading up to their response.

The Collingwood OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch, is investigating the incident. The Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario, the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service and the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit are assisting.

The victim was identified as 33-year-old Dustin LeBlond of Clearview Township. The accused is 43-year-old Jeffrey Young of Wasaga Beach.

Young remains in police custody.

"More information will be provided as it becomes available," OPP concluded in their Saturday statement. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call the Collingwood OPP at 705-445-4321 or 1-888-310-1122.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
