No injuries in pair of Mount Forest blazes

It was a busy morning for the Wellington North Fire Service, as crews responded to two fires in Mount Forest in which everybody escaped without injury.

First, crews from both stations responded to a blaze at a storage building along Sligo Road just before 3 a.m.. There were no occupants in the building and fire officials say the cause is still under investigation.

They estimate the damage caused is over $1 million.

As of 9:30 a.m., crews are still on scene putting out hotspots. They estimate Sligo Road will remain closed between Hwy 89 and Main Street for another couple of hours.

Firefighters also responded to a car fire along Cork Street around 3:30 a.m. this morning.

Crews were able to knock the it down before it spread extensively to the surrounding shed and house. Everyone in the house got out safely and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The damage estimate is around $50,000.

WNFS thanked their partners who helped with the response, including neighbouring fire departments from Minto, Mapleton, West Grey, Southgate, and Shelburne.
