UPDATE: Fatal crash closes section of Highway 86

Provincial police closed a section of Highway 86 after a collision claimed the life of one person and seriously injured two others.

Callers to the CKNXNewsToday.ca newsroom say a collision occured Tuesday afternoon on Highway 86 near the Country Sisters restaurant.

According to OPP two vehicles, a grey sedan and a grey SUV, collided, which left three people seriously injured.

The driver of the SUV, a 66-year-old from Elmira, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The passenger inside the sedan, a 67-year-old from North Perth, was air lifted to hospital, while the driver of the sedan, a 66-year-old North Perth resident, was sadly pronounced dead on scene.

OPP have closed Highway 86 between Perth Road 116 and Perth Road 121. It remains closed as of 8 p.m. Tuesday. It's not yet known when it will be reopened.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call OPP.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
