Police charge youth in connection to vehicle fire

Wellington County OPP have charged one youth suspect with arson following an investigation into a vehicle fire.

On June 7 at 5 p.m., police responded with the Wellington North Fire Department to a reported vehicle fire in a field off of Sligo Road East in Mount Forest. The cause of the fire was determined to be suspicious, and officers began an investigation.

As a result of that investigation, a 14-year-old Wellington North youth has been arrested and charged with Arson - Damage to Property. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph at a later date.

The OPP has stated that at this stage of their investigation, this vehicle fire does not appear to be connected to a string of other suspicious fires that plagued Mount Forest recently (https://cknxnewstoday.ca/news/2023/06/05/opp-investigating-suspicious-mount-forest-fires).
