Arrests made following drugs and weapons investigation

Saugeen Shores Police made a couple of arrests following a recent incident in Port Elgin.

On June 21, officers were called regarding trouble that was reported at Port Elgin beach. Police were able to locate a black SUV on Goderich Street near Ivings Drive, believed to be involved in a serious incident. A traffic stop was conducted and three people were identified in the vehicle, one of whom was wanted by Grey-Bruce OPP.

Officers arrested that individual and searched the vehicle, finding quantities of methamphetamine, after which all three in the vehicle were arrested. Open alcohol was also observed in the vehicle, and upon further search of the vehicle at the station, officers discovered other drug related items along with a large quantity of methamphetamine, cocaine and unidentified pills. A handgun style pellet gun was also located within the vehicle.

As a result, a 31-year-old from Elmwood and a 40-year-old from Desboro have been arrested and charged with numerous offences. Both of the accused were held for a bail hearing.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
