High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

An elderly Sarnia man has died following a two vehicle crash Thursday afternoon.
Sarnia police, fire and EMS, responded to a collision on Wellington St. just west of Indian Rd. around 4pm.
Sarnia Constable John Sottosanti says both drivers were taken to hospital.
A 32-year-old Sarnia man suffered non-life threatening injuries, while the other driver, a 71-year-old man, succumbed to his injuries.
Wellington St. was closed until about 10pm while police investigated.
Police are looking to speak to any witnesses and anyone with information is asked contact officer Mark Berger with the Sarnia Police Service Traffic Branch at 519-344-8861 ext. 6156.
