High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Bruce County is advising motorists that Bruce Road 15 will be closed for culvert repair on Tuesday, July 11 and Tuesday, July 18. The closures from Sideroad 5 Greenock to Bruce Road 20 is weather permitting.During construction, a detour will be in place on Sideroad 5 Greenock, running north to Concession 14 and then west to Bruce Road 20. There will also be signage directing traffic.Bruce County says culverts are an essential part of the drainage system. They play a crucial role in making sure stormwater is transported securely and flooding is kept to a minimum during bad weather.
