Charges laid following attempted theft of ATV

A 20-year-old from North Perth is facing charges following an attempted theft from a business.

On July 5 just before 7 p.m., Perth County OPP responded after a witness observed a would-be thief trying to steal an ATV from a business on Main Street West in Listowel.

The alleged thief was located by police next to the ATV when they arrived on-scene, and as a result, a 20-year-old North Perth resident was placed under arrest.

The accused is charged with theft over $5000 of a motor vehicle, unauthorized possession of a weapon and two counts of failure to comply with undertaking.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
