High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

The Owen Sound Police Service and the Grey-Bruce OPP have made an arrest in connection to a recent homicide.On July 11 just after 1 a.m., officers responded to a report of gunshots at an apartment complex on 6th Avenue West. Upon arrival officers located a deceased individual.Following an investigation, members of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit arrested an Owen Sound native on July 12. A 34-year-old male is now charged with first degree murder.The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound. The investigation is ongoing.If anyone has any information to offer in regards to this case, contact Grey-Bruce OPP, the Owen Sound Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
