High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Police are investigating the theft of light fixtures from a local conservation area.Perth County OPP were called on July 6 just before 10 a.m. regarding a theft from a conservation area on Perth Road 163 in the Municipality of West Perth. Light fixtures that were waiting to be installed at baseball diamonds were stolen sometime between the afternoon of July 5 and the morning of July 6.The estimated cost of the light fixtures that were stolen is $5,000.If anyone has any information regarding this theft, contact Perth County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
