Truck hits Stratford house, driver charged

A 24-year-old Stratford man has been charged with impaired operation after driving a truck into the front of a house.

Stratford Police Service responded to a call at a residence on Mowat Street around 2 p.m. on Monday.

Officers discovered a vehicle had driven off the roadway and into the building, damaging both the house and truck.

Police say they suspected the driver was impaired and transported him back to the station to obtain breath samples, which they note were double the legal limit.

The driver has since been released on an undertaking, but his licence was suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for a week.

He is scheduled to appear in court in August.
