Police identify and arrest suspect involved in Exeter armed robbery

Police have identified and arrested a suspect allegedly involved in a recent armed robbery in Exeter.

Huron County OPP responded on the night of July 30 to a reported armed robbery at a business in Exeter on Main Street. A suspect was captured on surveillance coming into the business, demanding cash and brandishing a handgun. The suspect was then seen leaving the scene in a vehicle.

Investigators say the same suspect also attempted a robbery at a business in Huron Park that had already closed.

The suspect was positively identified by investigators, who carried out a search warrant on August 2 at a Bluewater address. As a result, a 41-year-old from Bluewater was arrested and charged with numerous offences, including robbery using a firearm, theft under $5,000 and many others.

The accused remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing scheduled for August 3, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich.
