High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Stratford Police say a 15-year-old girl died by drowning near St Marys over the weekend.Emergency services were called to Wildwood Conservation Area on Sunday.Police say fire, park staff, paramedics and bystanders performed CPR on the individual, who was rushed to St. Marys hospital.Though all life saving measures were taken by medical staff, the girl passed away.Police say the name of the deceased will not be released out of respect for the family. They also encourage anyone who witnessed or has been affected by the tragedy to contact Victim Services at 1-866-376-9852 for support and resources.
