SIU looking into Grey Bruce OPP after ATV collision

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been called in after several people were injured during an arrest by Grey Bruce OPP.

According to the SIU, around 10 p.m. on Sunday, an officer was in the area of French Bay Road in Saugeen First Nation when an ATV came to his attention.

There were two people on the ATV, and officials say they were pulling a trailer with a man on it.

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle but did not succeed. Later, another officer tried to engage the ATV as well.

SIU says shortly after, the ATV became involved in a collision and all three occupants were ejected.

All occupants were transported to local hospital, and a 42-year-old man was airlifted to a London hospital with serious injuries.

OPP say two people were taken into custody and are facing multiple charges.

SIU have assigned four investigators, two forensic investigators and one collision reconstructionist to the case.
